The following USB headsets have been fixed in Natty: 046d:01ab, 046d:0a0c, and 1395:0002. You can check the number of your headset with the lsusb command, e g: Bus 005 Device 002: ID 046d:0a0c Logitech, Inc. I had this problem (extremely quiet Logitech USB headset) which was fixed after applying the fix suggested in: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/pulseaudio/+bug/644065 ...adjusting the base volume in alsamixer. I have the same problem with logitech G330 USB headphones...it works perfect plugged into the regular line out 3.5mm jack though. I'm experiencing this problem with a Logitech headset. The headset doesn't have a model label on it, but from the looks, it seems to be http://www.logitech.com/en-us/webcam-communications/internet-headsets- phones/devices/3622 or a variant of similar design.
