Using linux 2.6.32 radeon KMS, I have frequently outages, showing a blank 
screen for like one second. It keeps
coming back, without any log file entry, as if nothing had happened. Installing 
the linux 2.6.33 mainline
package (plus missing firmware file) fixes this issue completely.
