Folks, *** This bug is back! *** I can not say exactly when but a recent update in Lucid causes the volume slider panel applet button so show very dark in all dark themes including Ambiance. I confirmed this today with a fresh install of Lucid where everything was Ok. With no other changes and after the standard post install update the bug is visible. This is now fixed in Radiance (awaiting upload, etc).
For all other themes, you need to add a style which includes a
bg[NORMAL] and match that to ido-offscreen-scale. Something like this
will work:
style "soundfix"
{
bg[NORMAL] = "#ff000" # change this color as needed
}
widget "ido-offscreen-scale" style "soundfix"
NOTE: you can also just match it to the style which defines the menus,
etc.

Few possible solutions: 1/ Apply the menu background color to the slider's background. 2/ Add a frame surrounding the slider so it has a more attractive look when inserted in a menu.
