I'm having the same issue... Some people would consider this a security risk. I need to send confidential internal emails while I am traveling. To accomplish this I use a vpn with an ssh tunnel to create a socks proxy to a system in my office. I recently switched from thunderbird because of evolutions integrated calendar functionality and ability to sync with palm. Unfortunately I have to go back to thunderbird now due to the lack of confidentiality. to my understanting, all protocols should use it. Intrepid Ibex has the upstream fix, but it does not seem to be working (and this is why I reopened the upstream bug). Evo 2.23.90 is being packaged right now for Intrepid. I would suggest you to WAIT for Evo 2.23.90 AND Evolution-Data-Server 2.23.90.1. An extremely serious bug was found on E-D-S 2.23.90, leading to lost emails. Please notice that Evolution itself will be at 2.23.90, and E-D-S will be at 2.23.90.1. Ok, But it will be available on Ibex ? I`m using 2.23.6(Ibex) and not 2.23.3, even having and setting manual/system proxy on Evo this doesn`t work. Evo 2.23.90 is already packaged for Ibex or you have compiled it ? @Cleber Santz: just FYI, this fix is *NOT* available on 2.22.3.1; upstream has targeted 2.24 (and it is available for current Evolution /Evolution-data-server trunk). I have reopened it because it did not work for you (and for me, but this is secondary). After reviewing the upstream bug, I noticed that this fix was never targeted for 2.22.3, so... indeed it will not work for you. I will keep it opened, though, because it still does not work for up-to- date Evo (2.23.90 and later). I am sorry for the confusion. Can you please go to Edit/Preferences/Network Preferences, and: (1) is it currently set to "Use system defaults"? (2) if it is, can you reconfigure it to "Manual proxy configuration", and re-enter your proxy data there? I have just tried on my Evo (running 2.23.90 trunk), and -- after setting Gnome proxy --, my Evo still went straight into Internet. I then checked the gconf keys, and they are set to http_proxy=true (and invalid IP addresses), so we sort of match on our configuration. Restarting Evo did not produce any change in behaviour. OK. upstream has set the bug to RESOLVED FIXED, so I am setting us to "Fix Commited". This fix will be available on the upcoming Intrepid (and probably as early as 2.23.5). Upstream is not going to backport the fix to stable (2.22.2). If any of you are interested in having it backported to Hardy, please open a backport request stating you would like to have this fix on 2.22.2. Patches were applied upstream to SVN trunk, and should be already available on E-D-S 2.23.4 on Intrepid. The patch was not backported to 2.22, to my knowledge. I will check upstream. Using Ubuntu 7.04 I still have this issue. Didnt tried gutsy. I can confirm that bug on Edgy.
