2010-10-09 Thread Anzenketh
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu
better. We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to look at all
reported bugs in a timely manner.
There have been many changes in Ubuntu since that time you reported the bug and
your problem may have been fixed with some of the updates. There particularly
have been some updates to sound. It would help us a lot if you could test the
current Ubuntu development version (10.10).(Live CD will suffice) If you can
test it, and it is still an issue, we would appreciate if you could upload
updated logs by running apport-collect , and any other logs that are
relevant for this particular issue.

[Bug 527898] Re: ubuntu 9.10 No sound on Realtek ALC861-VD

2010-04-13 Thread cosmos
My sound card is Realtek ALC861-VD and the laptop is Toshiba satellite
A100-784.I installed karmic a few days ago and had no sound at all. After
trying a lot of possible workarounds but with no solution, i decided to
upgrade to lucid. But still no sound. The 'weird' thing is i suspect that
the problem has something to do with the following:

 aplay -l
 List of PLAYBACK Hardware Devices
card 0: Intel [HDA Intel], device 0: ALC861-VD Analog [ALC861-VD Analog]
  Subdevices: 0/1
  Subdevice #0: subdevice #0
card 0: Intel [HDA Intel], device 6: Si3054 Modem [Si3054 Modem]
  Subdevices: 1/1
  Subdevice #0: subdevice #0

As you can see there is another device that maybe is mistaken for an
audio device.

Linux toshiba-laptop 2.6.32-20-generic #30-Ubuntu SMP Mon Apr 12
15:19:41 UTC 2010 i686 GNU/Linux

Pkease help by asking required info i'm quite lost :-)

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. This bug did not have a package associated with it, which
is important for ensuring that it gets looked at by the proper
developers. You can learn more about finding the right package at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage. I have classified this
bug as a bug in PKGNAME.

When reporting bugs in the future please use apport, either via the
appropriate application's "Help -> Report a Problem" menu or using
'ubuntu-bug' and the name of the package affected. You can learn more
about this functionality at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ReportingBugs.

Unfortunately we can't fix it without more information. Would you
please add the information requested from the "Reporting Sound Bugs"
section of https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingSoundProblems as separate
attachments? Thanks in advance.
