2010-09-15 Thread bhirt
Just my $0.02 -- we were having this problem with dapper on all of our
servers that were using 2010S. However, with newer installs (9.04 and
9.10) it has not been an issue.

2010-05-31 Thread Teej
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu
better. We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to look at all
reported bugs in a timely manner.
There have been many changes in Ubuntu since that time you reported the bug and
your problem may have been fixed with some of the updates. It would help us a
lot if you could test the current Ubuntu version (10.04). If you can test it,
and it is still an issue, we would appreciate if you could upload updated logs
by running apport-collect , and any other logs that are relevant for
this particular issue.

We're no longer using that card at our sites. Sorry, but I can't
confirm that its a resolved issue.

Pah, I've given up on this issue. In the I was able to run Dapper with
the other driver, but raidutils still didn't work correctly. Switched to
3ware mirror ATA stuff now.

[Bug 52956] Re: Improper Installation with Adaptec RAID 2010S

2007-02-01 Thread B Larson
Workaround from Lumír Jasiok confirmed.

1) On boot failure you'll be kicked to a very limited shell. Mount the
partition you installed Ubuntu to, which should be at /dev/sda1.

2) From the Ubuntu partition, go to boot/grub and change all occurrences
of /dev/i2o/hda1 in menu.lst to /dev/sda1 . Likewise, change all
occurrences in etc/fstab . You won't have access to an editor, so use
sed to find/replace.

I did a dist-upgrade to 6.10, and thought perhaps that I would have to repeat
this procedure. However, upon inspection of menu.lst and fstab, all references
had been changed to a UID. References to other devices in fstab were normal,
however. Don't know what that's about but it works, so good.

This is not limited to the 2010S or 2100S cards; it's occuring with my
AIC7899 as well. Dmesg entry, now that I've got it to boot up using a
workaround:

[Bug 52956] Re: Improper Installation with Adaptec RAID 2010S

2006-07-27 Thread Nicholas Istre
I can verify this problem on installing Ubuntu Server 6.06 on a server
running on a Adaptec 3210S RAID card. I was able to work around this by
editing my /etc/fstab file and changing all references to /dev/i2o/hdx#
to /dev/sdx#.

I concur with the suggested fix.
