H...it seems that the problem was related to num lock. :\ The thing is, the Eee doesn't have a NumLock LED indicator so I didn't even notice that it was only the right side of the keyboard that got messed up. There *is* an error related to the keyboard in Xorg.0.log, but I can't tell if it's related.
