[Bug 53221] Re: rt2570 driver fails to recognise ASUS WL167G
Ok, please include the following additional information when running Feisty, if you have not already done so (please pay attention to lspci's additional options), as required by the Ubuntu Kernel Team: 1. Please include the output of the command "uname -a" in your next response. It should be one, long line of text which includes the exact kernel version you're running, as well as the CPU architecture. 2. Please run the command "dmesg > dmesg.log" and attach the resulting file "dmesg.log" to this bug report. 3. Please run the command "lspci -vvnn > lspci-vvnn.log" and attach the resulting file "lspci-vvnn.log" to this bug report. For your reference, the full description of procedures for kernel- related bug reports is available at [WWW] http://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelTeamBugPolicies. [Bug 53221] Re: rt2570 driver fails to recognise ASUS WL167G
The device worked flawlessly for me both in Edgy and Feisty, that until I upgraded to kernel 2.6.18 and higher. Right now, I get the wlan0 interface (before it was rausb0) and wmaster0. I seem to have Murray's problem too, only that I've tried with and without Network Manager. The driver used is rt2500usb. Unfortunately, I don't have at my disposal right now an Edgy CD to see what driver it used befor, but I hope I'll get back to you soon. -- rt2570 driver fails to recognise ASUS WL167G https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/53221 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 53221] Re: rt2570 driver fails to recognise ASUS WL167G
I just tried with the Feisty Fawn herd 2 LiveCD. Things seem to be better, though not actually working. The Network control panel (and ifconfig) list 2 new wireless devices (wlan0 and wmaster0). Configuring them doesn't make any difference. I installed network-manager and started it and the applet without a (LiveCD) restart. It correctly shows only 1 new wireless device (wlan0) and successfully found my local networks. However, it can't actually connect to my network. nm-tool lists the strength of all networks as 0%. ** Tags added: fesity ** Tags added: feisty ** Tags removed: fesity -- rt2570 driver fails to recognise ASUS WL167G https://launchpad.net/bugs/53221 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 53221] Re: rt2570 driver fails to recognise ASUS WL167G
I am also finding that the ASUS WL-167G (v2) USB wireless adaptor does not seem to be recognised in Ubuntu Edgy. dmesg does say this when I plug it in: Jan 18 14:05:15 localhost kernel: [17180320.452000] usb 5-3: new high speed USB device using ehci_hcd and address 6 Jan 18 14:05:16 localhost kernel: [17180320.736000] usb 5-3: configuration #1 chosen from 1 choice However, it doesn't show up in the Network control panel, nor is it listed by ifconfig or iwconfig in the terminal. It does work in MS Windows. There are Linux drivers on the CD, which I have not yet tried. The CD has a linux/README.dat file that contains the following: " * To check which driver you should use 1. insert ASUS 167g into USB port. 2. cat /proc/usb/devices. 3. check vendor id and product id of ASUS WLAN device. 4. follow the README file in related directory to compile and install driver. vendor id productid driver directory 0B051706rt25USB 0B051707rt25USB 0B051723rt73 0B051724rt73 " But /proc/usb/devices does not seem to exist. You are running under "Intel" version of Ubuntu Linux and mine is on the PowerPC version. With the default ubuntu kernel the kernel fails to recognise the vendor ID. In your case, you could probably try the latest drivers from Serialmonkey or even Ralink. There is even a Ural driver. I have tried all and none of them either compile correctly or work on PowerPC Stephen Cooper Email: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Skype: cooperstephenjames eFax: +61 8 8125 6630 (Australia) On Jul 25, 2006, at 11:08 PM, RNuno wrote: > I have the same issue. > > My Atlhon freezes with this ASUS WL167G USB Wireless Stick. > When i try to active the device it just hangs, It works fine on > Windows. > > -- > rt2570 driver fails to recognise ASUS WL167G > https://launchpad.net/bugs/53221 -- rt2570 driver fails to recognise ASUS WL167G https://launchpad.net/bugs/53221 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
