I've been trying to reproduce this for a half hour to try to determine the cause, but I have not been able to do so. Since Firefox has undergone so many updates, can you please try once more with the final release of Ubuntu 10.04? Thank you for providing a link to the file. The behavior does not seem to be present in Firefox 3.7. However, I have confirmed this bug on Firefox 3.6.2 on Ubuntu 10.04. Strangely, the Archive Manager was not found for the tar.gz file you provided, but it was found just fine for other tar.gz files I tried. Also, going to the /tmp/ folder, I was able to open the tar.gz you provided just fine.
