As far as I'm concerned this is correctly fixed in Precise as long as modemmanager didn't crash during the session (in which cases there may be a race between upstart respawning it, and NM spawning it via DBus activation). I got this does not terminate at shutdown apport message only once after reboot, and posted a version only to tell that this still happens. I have uninstalled modemmanager package altogether, but the computer does not power down on Shutdown or Restart. I too get no error message, but my computer do not turn off when shuting down. I do not get an error message on reboot, but the subject describes exactly what I experience. After sudo shutdown now it hangs with a message about modemmanager and something like ...connection dbus.. Does not happen when shut down from gnome.
