I have followed your instruction but can't seem to synchronize playlists with my iPod Nano 2G using the daily build of Banshee (1.7.3+git20100801.r1 .be6c84b-0ubuntu1+lucid). I had to run sudo podsleuth --rescan WITH banshee opened then closed it and relaunched it. It affects me as well. None of the solutions below is working. sudo podsleuth --rescan returns "No iPods were found in the HAL device tree" The ipod is recognized in rhythmbox without any problem. Banshee version is 1.6.0 and I did an upgrade from 9.10 to 10.04. Moreover banshee crashes once or twice at first launch... I can confirm that Banshee (with Lucid) sees my iPod Nano 4G only after disabing auto-mounting in gconf-editor.
