We are closing this bug report as it lacks the information, described in the previous comments, we need to investigate the problem further. However, please reopen it if you can give us the missing information and feel free to submit bug reports in the future. ** Changed in: linux-source-2.6.20 (Ubuntu) Sourcepackagename: None => linux-source-2.6.20 Status: Incomplete => Invalid -- Sound echoes, after upgrade. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/54988 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Hopefully you will get home soon. When you do the information requested at https://help.ubuntu.com/community/DebuggingSoundProblems would be quite helpful. If you could test with the current development of Ubuntu, Gutsy Gibbon, that would be great. You can find out information about Gutsy at http://www.ubuntu.com/testing/ . [Bug 54988] Re: Sound echoes, after upgrade.
Sorry, I don't know. The computer is currently disassembled and stashed away. I am in the navy, and haven't had time to spend on computing lately. I do all my computing from a smartPhone. But in a few weeks, maybe I'll get home. Then I could try out a few versions of Ubuntu, and test sound. I use Ubuntu on all my computers, and this Mini-ITX is the only one with sound issues. Which versions of Ubuntu should I test on my troublesome Mini-ITX board? And is there any other things you vant tested out on these boards while I'm at it? Should i try certain commands, and paste the output? I don't know much about what info you need to fix the problem. -- Sound echoes, after upgrade. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/54988 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 54988] Re: Sound echoes, after upgrade.
I just tried the latest CD, (this time, NOT alternate). It does the same thing, even when running live! It stutters, almost like a record with a scratch. Sometimes it will skip a fragment of a second, sometimes it will repeat. MP3s work much better tham system sounds. System sounds can go on for up to five minutes. The computer hangs while the sound is playing, but works perfect afterwards. MP3s are absolutely hearable, but there is a skip around every minute or so. Annoying, but not cruel. It is still the same PC as mentioned i post #1. I hopeyou can fix this. It's only in UBUNTU. I haven't tried Kubuntu, Xubuntu and such. But others work fine. I will temporarily change distro until Ubuntu works again. I don't like that... :-( Maybe Kanotix will do the trick. But I don't understand what Ubuntu does wrong. The sound is definitely there, but it stutters. Such a weird problem, and without error messages. It happens regardless which mixer (ALSA, OSS, aRts) I use. -- Sound echoes, after upgrade. https://launchpad.net/bugs/54988 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Please do record the sound... are you using artsd? I've been having trouble with it since upgrade to edgy. Also, does it do this when recording? Like does the recording "stutter" or skip, or does it record smoothly? [Bug 54988] Re: Sound echoes, after upgrade.
Not just the startup-sound. XMMS, amaroK and so on, have the same problem. It seems that each somg is plit into hundreds of pieces. Rather than playing them in rapid succession, every 1/10 of a second is played 5-6 times, before moving on to another. It's not really echoing. It's stuttering. >From Wikipedia: Stuttering (known as stammering in the United Kingdom, sometimes misspelled studdering ) is a speech disorder in which the flow of speech is disrupted by involuntary repetitions and prolongations of sounds, syllables, words or phrases; and involuntary silent pauses or blocks in which the stutterer is unable to produce sounds. And that's a perfect definition of my problem. I could record a sound clip of my *attempt* on playing a song, if your'e interested. Everything else works. This happened after the upgrade. No error messages. But the startup takes a while longer, i think. It's like the splash screen hangs for some seconds, and the icons make me wait for them before they appear. When the computer finally is started, I can surf, write and so on. But no music or sound. -- Sound echoes, after upgrade. https://launchpad.net/bugs/54988 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
