This error message was generated for me. It is the passwd command which
gave me system error, while trying to change a users password. I had no
OpenOffice or not even Firefox open.
The password management has been broken for at least 30 hours now. I am using
Lucid with standard repos (not proposed) and updating daily.
My current passwd is version 1:4.1.4.2-1ubuntu2
passwd -S user
works Ok
passwd user, passwd, sudo passwd, sudo passwd user
gives outout
Järjestelmävirhe
(=system error in finnish)
With GUI:s: As an administrator I can change users password, but it
there is no actual change. As a normal user i can not change my
password, because "Authentication failed". and the original password
field is highlighted.
All users (7) can login with their passwords but currently the passwords
cannot be changed.
