[Bug 553002] Re: No Sound from Head phone Jack from Studio XPS 1645
Andy, the driver never keys on the human-readable string "1558" or whatever. It uses the PCI SSID, which you can find in lspci -nv under Subsystem for class 0403. Because you didn't attach the relevant information, I have no idea whether the patch for *this* bug works for you. [Bug 553002] Re: No Sound from Head phone Jack from Studio XPS 1645
Daniel, this patch won't work for my machine, which reports "Dell Studio 1558", and not the XPS model. I note that 1555 and 1557 (otherwise identical hardware) are already listed. So presumably this is just an oversight. Please also note that HDMI audio is also an issue for this laptop, but I will have Robert file a new report for that issue. Short of testing the current development version (Ubuntu 10.04 LTS Beta - Lucid Lynx) can you propose any other changes (packages, alsa module options) for this particular Laptop? ** Changed in: alsa-driver (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete => New -- No Sound from Head phone Jack from Studio XPS 1645 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/553002 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I was directed by Ubuntu support to do that and it didn't work. They asked me to file a separate bug report for this. [Bug 553002] Re: No Sound from Head phone Jack from Studio XPS 1645
Hello There is a test report for Dell Studio XPS 1340 which is similar but not exact for yours. please is it possible to add your laptop to the testing/laptop/reports page found on https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/Laptop/Reports. The report writing is https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/Laptop This will help greatly to catch bugs for other users. PS The XPS 1340 passes all requirements so there might not be a bug with audio after all. -- No Sound from Head phone Jack from Studio XPS 1645 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/553002 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
