[Bug 55554] Re: HAL Status 3 on AR5212 chipset (broken wifi)
I see, since none of us have the capability we might have to close it, I'll wait a month or so and see if something pops up. [Bug 55554] Re: HAL Status 3 on AR5212 chipset (broken wifi)
Hi, I see there's been some unactivity on this bug, anyway, I searched the web and madwifis troubleshooting page and came up with this: http://madwifi.org/wiki/UserDocs/Troubleshooting#WhenIloadtheath_pcimoduleIgetunabletoattachhardware:HardwaredidntrespondasexpectedHALstatus3 Oh, have you tried with a newer version of Ubuntu/Madwifi? If you have the time that would be greatly appreciated, and see if the same problems appear there. -- HAL Status 3 on AR5212 chipset (broken wifi) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/4 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Hi Daniel, Thanks for the link. I've replaced this laptop with a different brand so I can't offer any more help. If anyone can duplicate the problem feel free to jump in. -- HAL Status 3 on AR5212 chipset (broken wifi) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/4 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 55554] Re: HAL Status 3 on AR5212 chipset (broken wifi)
I received a replacement wireless adapter in the mail (based on the same chipset) and after installing it, was disappointed to receive the same error. On a whim, I returned it and ordered the other wireless card the X60 supports (Intel Pro/wireless 3945ABG) and installed it. It works perfectly. I'm not sure what the problem is, but I guess the atheros driver is conflicting with some other hardware? (Perhaps the WAN card?) Anyway, it's working now. I'll leave this bug open and let the maintainer decide what to do. If you'd like any info on the hardware in the laptop just let me know what commands to run. Thanks. -- HAL Status 3 on AR5212 chipset (broken wifi) https://launchpad.net/bugs/4 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

You probably have a hardware problem with your RAM chips Have you tested your RAM? --acpid ** Changed in: Ubuntu Sourcepackagename: None = acpid -- HAL Status 3 on AR5212 chipset (broken wifi) https://launchpad.net/bugs/4 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 55554] Re: HAL Status 3 on AR5212 chipset (broken wifi)
Have you tested your RAM? Yep, I've run though the memtest86+ option in grub a couple times - no errors. I've actually ordered a new wireless adapter that should be here in a couple weeks. I suspect (and hope ;) it's a hardware problem with the adapter I have. -- HAL Status 3 on AR5212 chipset (broken wifi) https://launchpad.net/bugs/4 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
