Sorry for the approximate English translation, but I run a French version. 
Actually this bug is lasting from Jaunty.

I'm supposed to activate this notification bip by doing the following:

system > preferences > accessibility tool > tick the box: activate 
accessibility tools > click on button: keyboard accessibility
accessibility tab > tick the box: allow activation and deactivation of 
accessibility functions through keyboard shortcuts
click on button: sound return > click on the first 2 boxes

Even though, no sound when I press on the caplock button

I noticed that on all my different PCs with Lucid installed or with Live
CD
