Re: [Bug 561323] Re: Thunderbird exits immediately without error message
If you still have the system version of lightning installed, you should remove it. Bug 532232 is for getting lightning 1.0beta into the archive. Giles, You seem to be unrelated to this bug report. If it works without lightning installed than your bug is locale and not a bug in thunderbird. Thunderbird hasn't crashed since disabling Lightning, so it does seem that while the symptoms are the same, I'm experiencing a different bug. Please see bug 532232 for information about Lightning and Lucid. [Bug 561323] Re: Thunderbird exits immediately without error message
Further to my previous comment, Thunderbird still is occasionally exiting on start-up. The problem goes away after starting it from the command line, switching to the calendar (Lightning) and then exiting, but this is not a permanent fix. -- Thunderbird exits immediately without error message https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/561323 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

We do not provide a lightning extension for Thunderbird-3 yet we plan to have this for 10.10 maybe back-port it to 10.04 but please follow bug #532232 ** Changed in: thunderbird (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed = Invalid -- Thunderbird exits immediately without error message https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/561323 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 561323] Re: Thunderbird exits immediately without error message
The bug 563893 fix worked for me: Remove the .thunderbird (not .mozilla-thunderbird) symlink in your home directory and move .thunderbird.upstream to .thunderbird Thanks ** Changed in: thunderbird (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete = Confirmed -- Thunderbird exits immediately without error message https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/561323 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 561323] Re: Thunderbird exits immediately without error message
I had this problem when launching Thunderbird from the menu, but not from the command line. Running Thunderbird in safe-mode solved the problem, and I tracked down the bug to the Lightning extension by disabling the extensions and re-enabling them one by one. The strange thing is that after using the calendar within Thunderbird + Lightning from the command line, the problem went away, and I am currently able to use Thunderbird with Lightning from the menu. Very strange. I can only presume that Lightning rewrote some display settings when I used the calendar. -- Thunderbird exits immediately without error message https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/561323 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

@Micah Gersten You were right. That fix helped and everything works as far. Thanks a lot! I have few extensions in firefox but none in thunderbird. Re: [Bug 561323] Re: Thunderbird exits immediately without error message
If there was a system extension that was incompatible, please file a bug against that extension. We might not be able to update before release, but possibly an SRU or a backport. [Bug 561323] Re: Thunderbird exits immediately without error message
Initially, thunderbird segfaulted on me which is probably related to Bug #532128 and Bug #507089 . After activating nscd, thunderbird does not segfault anymore but immediately exits after being started as described above. This affects only LDAP-managed users, whereas local users can start thunderbird fine.
