I'm using maverick in that laptop since it came out, and I always update when updates are available. The problem still exists. Like Higuita, when I connect a 3g usb modem it works immediately, with no further conf necessary. higuita, please open a new separate bug about your issue, since it can be a very different problem due to different hardware. Fernando, would it be possible for you to try this again on a live CD of Maverick or the current development release (Natty)? There has been tons of changes in ModemManager since Lucid and this particular problem may have been fixed already.
