[Bug 565697] Re: nvidia dual monitor seperate x server mouse cursor gets stuck

2013-01-04 Thread Jeffrey Honig
This is still present in Oneric with all the latest updates. If the
screen sizes are not the same, the cursor gets stuck on one.

In my case I'm using two DELL U2212HM 1920x1080 monitors. If I change
one to portrait mode (1080x1920) the mouse gets stuck.

[Bug 565697] Re: nvidia dual monitor seperate x server mouse cursor gets stuck

2011-05-09 Thread JayBofMA
This is similar to the issues that I have had since applying a security
update last week to Maverick. After the update cause significant
instability of the overall system, I was finally forced to "upgrade" to
Natty. Now I cannot get use of the second monitor in any satisfactory
manner.

With Xinerama I see nothing more than a mirror of Monitor 0. No
functionality on Monitor 1 at all.

Without Xinerama, I cannot drag windows to Monitor 0 as I need to do,
and I have to resort to using the dock on both monitors. And the larger
second display, Monitor 1, renders only the image of the primary display
at the same size, i.e. only 1280x800 of the larger monitor is used.

With TwinView there is very poor experience for two different
resolutions. And I find this setup useless.

With upgrades like this I might just have t remain using Windoze XP
Despite its lackluster performance.

Confirmed on a System76 Pangolin Performance PanP4n. Seems to be an
nvidia problem.

External mice work prefectly. Only the laptop's built-in trackpad has
problems.

[Bug 565697] Re: nvidia dual monitor seperate x server mouse cursor gets stuck

2010-08-29 Thread uniomni
I have this problem too. I am using Ubuntu 10.04.1 64 bit with an
Acer163HQ primary screen and a Toshiba 42 inch TV for the secondary
monitor. My graphics card is ASUS ENGT220 - NVIDIA GeForce GT220. NVIDIA
Driver version is 195.36.24

I have not found a way of moving the mouse back once it is stuck on the
Toshiba TV.

I also have this problem.

Once the mouse moves to the 2nd screen, I cannot move it back using the
touchpad but I can move it back using a USB mouse. Peculiar...

[Bug 565697] Re: nvidia dual monitor seperate x server mouse cursor gets stuck

2010-06-25 Thread Edwin Floyd
I have a similar issue. Laptop is ASUS C90S running 64-bit Ubuntu 10.04
with GeForce 8600M GT and 195.36.24 driver. With external monitor in
"Separate X screen", mousepad cursor gets trapped as soon as it's moved
to the external monitor desktop. Oddly, my wireless mouse, when it's
working (flaky bluetooth support!) moves effortlessly between desktops.

[Bug 565697] Re: nvidia dual monitor seperate x server mouse cursor gets stuck

2010-05-06 Thread Ian Clifton
I have a similar issue. My laptop is an Asus N50V with a GeForce 9650M
GT video card; the external monitor is a Viewsonic VX1940w (1650x1080).
I'm experiencing the issue with the 195.36.15 nVidia drivers using
Ubuntu 10.04 (i386).

If the display is set to "Separate X screen," my mouse cursor starts on
the main (laptop) monitor and works fine there. As soon as I move it to
the external monitor, it gets stuck within that monitor. Moving back
toward the other one results in the cursor stopping just like if the
external monitor were the only one connected.

I also use Synergy and moving the cursor from the desktop (server) to my
laptop/ext. monitor setup only allows the cursor to use whichever
monitor the cursor was already on. So, if the cursor was still on my
laptop screen and I use the mouse from the main computer to move the
cursor over to the laptop to control it, the cursor can move all around
the laptop screen, but moving it to the external monitor doesn't work
(but I can move it back to the desktop just fine). Similarly, if I have
moved the mouse cursor to the external monitor, that is the only monitor
I can interact with via the mouse.

A temporary work around is to switch the settings to TwinView, which
makes the cursor work but has other limitations.
