Not everyone is willing to upgrade to Oneiric as just yet. I have a 10.04 in a Lenovo T410 and this is far the most stable Ubuntu version I have ever used. I installed oneiric from today and the problem is gone. Still present on Ubuntu 11.04 amd64 with my Thinkpad X220. Lenovo T510 here too. I think I remember reading somewhere that it might be caused by a chip which can be configured to report the battery parameters in either watt- hours or amp-hours, and somewhere along the line the units get confused or the chip is changed from one unit to another. Yes and no; when I unplug the cable, a dialog comes up saying that Batteri power in laptop is critically low.
