It appears that this problem is affecting Rhythmbox, so I will mark it as such. Could we have some information about your Rhythmbox configuration? Do you have a large collection of music files? What plugins are you using? Please give the output of the next tab in system resources. See screenshot for information. List the processes in the tab and sort by memory lowest to highest. This will provide information about what specific program is using the most memory.
