[Bug 574460] Re: akonadi not operational - no contacts shown in kontact
Well I've been fighting this for a month now, and the patch in post #2 fixed it for me. I had done a fresh install from a CD followed by whatever upgrades were suggested by Synaptic. I don't know what else the support people need. But then if i did, I'd probably be looking to join the team. Please fix thmX1GGjis properly. - Ernest Cowan -- akonadi not operational - no contacts shown in kontact https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/574460 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to akonadi in ubuntu. -- kubuntu-bugs mailing list kubuntu-b...@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/kubuntu-bugs
[Bug 574460] Re: akonadi not operational - no contacts shown in kontact
Being the original poster, I agree to let this bug report rest in peace ("invalid"). The error happened on my production notebook and I couldn't afford to loose more time, so I proceeded with a fresh install of 10.04. Therefor I am not able to provide any further information about the original problem. Actually, I would like to whine and complain about the (for KDE and Ubuntu) exceptionally bad user experience I had with akonadi (even with my new installation), but I better submit a more useful bug-report at the next occasion. Thanks for the support anyway. -- akonadi not operational - no contacts shown in kontact https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/574460 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 574460] Re: akonadi not operational - no contacts shown in kontact
@All Basically, if akonadi doesn't start, KAddressBook won't work. We have a wide range of bugs that can cause akonadi to not start, and your issue is most likely not this bug. (It was marked invalid for a reason.) Please file separate reports with the output of an akonadi self test against akonadi for your issue, thanks. -- akonadi not operational - no contacts shown in kontact https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/574460 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to akonadi in ubuntu. -- kubuntu-bugs mailing list kubuntu-b...@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/kubuntu-bugs

Not sure why this was changed to invalid. Akonadi seems to be dorked up upon install of Kubuntu 10.04. Marking it invalid doesn't make it go away, it just discourages users. -- akonadi not operational - no contacts shown in kontact https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/574460 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to akonadi in ubuntu. -- kubuntu-bugs mailing list kubuntu-b...@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/kubuntu-bugs
[Bug 574460] Re: akonadi not operational - no contacts shown in kontact
I too was having problems with my contacts & Akonadi, I found here: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=236157 is the fix for now: The problem is related to the content of the ~/.config/akonadi/akonadiserverrc. The file is ceated with "Options" line like : Options="UNIX_SOCKET=/home/dc/.local/share/akonadi/db_misc/mysql.socket" While it should be : Options="UNIX_SOCKET=/var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock" ** Bug watch added: KDE Bug Tracking System #236157 http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=236157 -- akonadi not operational - no contacts shown in kontact https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/574460 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to akonadi in ubuntu. -- kubuntu-bugs mailing list kubuntu-b...@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/kubuntu-bugs
[Bug 574460] Re: akonadi not operational - no contacts shown in kontact
Well let me sum this up real quick a) akonadi is mandatory in >= Kubuntu 10.04/KDE 4.4 for addressbooks b) without seeing the report it is difficult what innodb error you had, but you sure didn't fix it, you just rendered akonadi broken at a much higher level than innodb c) your akonadi is not operational because you very much messed things up :/ ... see, Test 1 includes the whole config of akonadi and among other things there is StartServer=false which later on results in Database error: Cannot open database. Last driver error: "QMYSQL: Unable to connect" Last database error: "Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/home/anh/.local/share/akonadi/db_misc/mysql.socket' (111)" Unable to open database "Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/home/anh/.local/share/akonadi/db_misc/mysql.socket' (111) QMYSQL: Unable to connect" Akonadi usually would start mysqld itself and take care of all the setup (granted there are no issues, which I must mention is not always the case), you however deactivated that start and thus akonadi is now dying because it can't connect to a stoarge backend (i.e. database server of some sort). Please refer to ubuntu forums or the kubuntu forums or IRC to get support on this. Also, maybe moving .config/akonadi and .local/share/akonadi out of the way might just nicely reset akonadi (be careful that you do not delete these files unless you are sure that no data will be lost), after that you should just need to relogin and setup a new addresbook resource in kaddressbook or akonadi or the KDE resource configuation in system settings. ** Changed in: akonadi (Ubuntu) Status: New => Invalid -- akonadi not operational - no contacts shown in kontact https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/574460 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to akonadi in ubuntu. -- kubuntu-bugs mailing list kubuntu-b...@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/kubuntu-bugs
