I'm afraid that there is nothing I can do about this without the requested log files. If you (the original reporter) can reproduce this bug with a current release and can get me the log files, feel free to reopen this bug. There should be no need to ensure a clean disk, in general. We certainly don't require you to comprehensively shred files from previous operating systems before installation! Hello Colin, Thanks for your repsonse. I'm sorry but I have cleaned the drive for another attempt, this time I will be attempting to load Kubuntu as sole occupant of the disk. To ensure a clean disk I am using OO File Shredder, any comments would be welcome, Linux is verry new to me but must be better than Windows XP. I have made a clean install of XP Pro and the following day it was blue screening. Will be intouch if any problems. I am looking at migratinf from XP Pro and am looking at Ubuntu and Kubuntu and wish to have both on the same gard drive with a third partition yet unused. I like the look of both these systems and hope to tral both for a few weeks. If you have any advice I will be glad of it. My slave hard drive is still with XP Pro. I am no expert.
