I have a usb 305 and doesn't work with linux mint 9 even with usb- modeswitch for ATT on a dell 1545 laptop. restart 5 to 10 times might work once. From the forums appears quite a few people have the problem and seems hit or miss with fixes. I've noticed this problem with previous Linux Mint and Ubuntu distros, where I had to install the usb-modeswitch package. It doesn't work in the final version (at least it doesn't on my HP 6735b), when I plug in my Huawei E260 dongle (which works fine with mint 8), it sees it as a mobile internet device, and it gets to the point where it is connecting, the little banner comes up saying it is connected, and then the system locks up solid and needs to be forced to reboot by holding down the start button.
