[Bug 58159] Re: [Bug 58159] Re: Edgy Browsers crash on AMD64 version

2006-09-02 Thread thompa
I am not interested in flash I merely want to view pages without them
being redirected to a flash installation page. which never happened
before and does not happen in other versions of ubuntu.

Quoting John Vivirito [EMAIL PROTECTED]:

Flash isnt build for 64bit. the www.thinkprogress.org doesnt have much
flash if any. i was looking through the page source and saw no flash. im
on 32bit and i have no problems with it. GPLflash is out for 64bit to
replace flash but im not sure how well it works.

2006-09-02 Thread thompa
edgy is updated as of sept 2. It is not so much a crash only that the
page is being redirected without me being able to read it. I simply
want to see the text before the redirect whic never happened before.I
dont want flash unless I have too, but should not need it to open a
page only.

Thanks

thompa, is this a clean installation or have you installed any
plugins/extensions? Can you please try with a new profile? If the
problem persists: please install firefox-dbg and run firefox -g 21
 | tee gdb-firefox.log. Reproduce the crash. Attach the gdb-firefox.log
backtrace to this bug report. Thanks a lot for reporting this.

[Bug 58159] Re: Edgy Browsers crash on AMD64 version

2006-09-02 Thread thompa
Update: Firefox is no longer crashing as of update sept2 06, The problem is
that as the page loads it redirects to
http://www.jeroenwijering.com/?item=Flash_Video_Player.
I don't want flash and I am not viewing flash content. I simply want to read
the pages text as always.
Thanks.

I have found one work around is to start clicking the stop loading page and I
am sometimes lucky.
I am also using konqueror and it works fine there so I will just use that.
