[Bug 583215] Re: indicator-applet suspend/hibernate options mysterious disappearance

2012-01-23 Thread Omer Akram
The number of bugs reported per day in Ubuntu is quite large, and low
percentage of those bugs is worked on and *many* bugs vanish as the
project proceeds, Its been almost on year and there have been no
activity on this bug, since it was reported there have been quite a lot
of changes to Ubuntu and indicator-session specifically.

This bug is totally out of the scope a papercut if you think so, using a
superuser tty is totally not for those people who prefer GUI

[Bug 583215] Re: indicator-applet suspend/hibernate options mysterious disappearance

2012-01-23 Thread Bryan Jacobs
Omer,

- There are exact, detailed reproduction steps for this bug in the
initial comment, made 2010-05-20.

- It is not kind to bug reporters to mark a bug triaged (which means
"not going to fix yet") and then, instead of reopening it for the next
Ubuntu release, to ask them to test it again. That could continue ad
infinitum. It's not respectful of the time of your users to repeatedly
bump something until it either fixes itself or the reporter gives up
(with the Launchpad auto-close script increasing your numbers when a
certain time period has elapsed).

I opened this bug 1.5 years ago, following the bug reporting procedure
*to the letter*. I could have at that time submitted a patch (the fix is
three lines of code), but I decided to use this minor papercut as a
canary to see how the Ubuntu community handled small UI issues like
this.

Since then, I have ceased to use Ubuntu, but I have little doubt that
the problem still exists in the latest release. You are welcome to
repair or close the bug as you see fit.

[Bug 583215] Re: indicator-applet suspend/hibernate options mysterious disappearance

2010-11-21 Thread Gurmeet
For me, indicator applet does not have the suspend / hibernate option.

2.6.35-23-server #40-Ubuntu SMP x86_64 GNU/Linux.

The power options are:
- Logout
- Restart
- Shutdown

Hibernate = missing
Suspend = missing
