Public bug reported:

Note: On the forum, I noticed some discussion of similar problems, but
it's not clear that they a) have been reported, or b) have been
resolved. I just received my install disc mailed from Canonical, and I
can't get it to install on the G-4 Mac Pismo. I followed some suggested
remedies and still have succeeded. The problem seems to have something
to do with the Apple bootstrap partition--getting that properly set up
(no tech help in Ubuntu for it, only an error message that it can't
find/there is no bootstrap partition. Despite that message, with OS X
partition deleted, the Ubuntu installer completed a 98% install in the
root sector it was directed to, and also acknowledged the swap partition
--but then the installer crashed with the following message: Sorry, the
installer has crashed; please report the following, etc.: Any help
appreciated.
