[Bug 584266] Re: [STAGING] maverick regression: can not connect to ad-hoc WEP WLAN

2010-10-06 Thread Wolfgang Kufner
And we have another winner with ubuntu maverick i386 live :-) . Connects fine
out of the box.
All details exactly as with kubuntu i386 in the post above.

** Summary changed:

- [STAGING] maverick regression: can not connect to ad-hoc WEP WLAN
+ [STAGING] maverick amd64 regression: can not connect to ad-hoc WEP WLAN

** Description changed:

+ This happens only with the 64 bit version. The 32 bit version is fine.
Connecting to a WEP protected ad-hoc network worked fine with lucid but does
not work in maverick.
(With WPA it did not work in lucid either. Connecting to a router in
infrastructure mode with WPA works well.)

[Bug 584266] Re: [STAGING] maverick regression: can not connect to ad-hoc WEP WLAN

2010-10-06 Thread Wolfgang Kufner
Tried out todays kubuntu maverick i386 live booted via grub2 loopmount (on the
same hardware):
it worked right out of the box :-)
The network management panel says the driver is rt2800pci.

lsmod|grep rt
rt2860sta 504366 0
rt2800pci 8565 0
I had expected a one behind one of them.

2010-06-07 Thread Wolfgang Kufner
Did some more testing on lucid with the mainline builds on this ad-hoc WEP use
case:
In lucid kernel 2.6.32 is the last one working. 2.6.33 and 2.6.34 fail with
same symptoms.

Details of the tested kernels for reference:
Linux version 2.6.32-0206321505-generic (r...@zinc) (gcc version 4.2.3 (Ubuntu
4.2.3-2ubuntu7)) #0206321505 SMP Wed Jun 2 19:09:40 UTC 2010
Linux version 2.6.33-02063305-generic (r...@zinc) (gcc version 4.2.3 (Ubuntu
4.2.3-2ubuntu7)) #02063305 SMP Tue Jun 1 15:08:11 UTC 2010
Linux version 2.6.34-020634-generic (r...@zinc) (gcc version 4.2.3 (Ubuntu

[Bug 584266] Re: [STAGING] maverick regression: can not connect to ad-hoc WEP WLAN

2010-06-03 Thread Wolfgang Kufner
Just tried with maverick with ubuntu's mainline build of 2.6.35rc1. It can not
connect either.
It is trying with the rt2860sta module again, as before. (The rt2800pci is not
even included in that build. Not sure whether that is supposed to work already.)

I also tried todays maverick iso. Does not connect either.

[Bug 584266] Re: [STAGING] maverick regression: can not connect to ad-hoc WEP WLAN

2010-05-24 Thread Jeremy Foshee
Hi Wolfgang,

If you could also please test the latest upstream kernel available that would
be great. It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue.
Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Once you've tested the
upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-upstream-testing' tag. This can be
done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon next to the tag located at the
bottom of the bug description and deleting the 'needs-upstream-testing' text.
Please let us know your results.

Thanks in advance.
