[Bug 589465] Re: Nautilus not working correctly after 6/3 security updates
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. A new version of Nautilus is available on Maverick and we are wondering if this bug is still an issue for you with that version? Could you please test and comment back? Thanks in advance. ** Changed in: nautilus (Ubuntu) Status: New = Incomplete -- Nautilus not working correctly after 6/3 security updates https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/589465 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 589465] Re: Nautilus not working correctly after 6/3 security updates
Well now this seems to be more of a GNOME issue than Ubuntu or Nautilus. I installed KDE Plasma yesterday, and URLs open fine. Drives are auto- mounting fine. Only issue I've noticed is that I still can't open my Trash. That's it. -- Nautilus not working correctly after 6/3 security updates https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/589465 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 589465] Re: Nautilus not working correctly after 6/3 security updates
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Unfortunately, we can't fix it because your description didn't include enough information. You may find it helpful to read How to report bugs effectively http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem. We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures. At a minimum, we need: 1. the specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the problem, 2. the behavior you expected, and 3. the behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible). Thanks! When reporting bugs in the future please use apport, either via the appropriate application's Help - Report a Problem menu or using 'ubuntu-bug' and the name of the package affected. You can learn more about this functionality at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ReportingBugs. ** Changed in: nautilus (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided = Low ** Changed in: nautilus (Ubuntu) Status: New = Incomplete -- Nautilus not working correctly after 6/3 security updates https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/589465 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 589465] Re: Nautilus not working correctly after 6/3 security updates
Ok, here are the steps I took. 1. SSH'ed to computer from school on June 3rd, 2010, noticed that Ubuntu had 9 security updates available. 2. Ran sudo apt-get update then sudo apt-get upgrade 3. Noticed that a new version of linux-image and linux-headers were available. 4. Waited for updates to install, disconnected. 5. Arrived home, and noticed that the power icon was red, indicating a reboot was required. 6. Rebooted machine, and logged back in. --Scenario One-- I was going to mount the secondary partition on my system drive, Xeon, an NTFS formatted drive with Windows 7 on it. Under normal circumstances, I can mount it by clicking Xeon in the Places menu. What I expected to happen: I expected an icon in the Places menu with the name of Xeon, which would allow me to mount the drive. What actually happened: No icon for the drive was in the Places menu, so I clicked on Computer, and was going to attempt to mount the drive through there. When I clicked on Computer, I got this: Could not display computer:. Nautilus cannot handle computer locations. However, all the other shortcuts, such as Home Folder and Documents work fine. Clicking on the Computer icon there gives the same aforementioned error. --Scenario Two-- This error happened when I tried to submit a bug through Apport using ubuntu-bug nautilus. What I expected to happen: I expected Apport to collect information, and then open a Firefox window where I could submit further information. What actually happened: I got an error in Terminal saying Error opening URL: Operation not supported. I noticed the same error when attempting to open a link in both Evolution and XChat. I hope that this gives more along the lines of what you were looking for. When I submitted my previous support I was in a rush. P.S. After installing the security updates made available on June 4th, 2010, which included linux-image and linux-headers, the problem was still not fixed. ** Changed in: nautilus (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete = In Progress -- Nautilus not working correctly after 6/3 security updates https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/589465 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

apport information ** Tags added: apport-collected ** Description changed: Binary package hint: nautilus After installing the security updates on 6/3/10 and rebooting, Nautilus started acting odd. My other partition on the system drive does not show up in the Places menu, and when I try to click on the Computer link in Places, I get Could not display computer:. Nautilus cannot handle computer locations. I can still mount the drive using Disk Utility. Also, when trying to open a link in Evolution, or when I tried to submit a bug using Apport, I get Error showing url: Operation not supported. Attached is a report generated by apport-cli.
