[Bug 590173] Re: Error on restarting squid
In fact, one should *never* confirm one's own bugs. See https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/Status. -- Error on restarting squid https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/590173 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 590173] Re: Error on restarting squid
Also, prakash, its worth nothing that the reason there were no replies to this bug was because you changed the status to "Confirmed". Normally you would want another user to do this, as many people are involved with the process of "bug triage" where they look at bug reports with a status of "New" and try to reproduce the reported effects. In the future, its best to simply create the report, and leave the status as "New', which will help interested parties find your report. -- Error on restarting squid https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/590173 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 590173] Re: Error on restarting squid
@prakash85, thank you for taking the time to create this bug report. As ktp notes, this is not a bug but a feature, in that you must use the 'sudo' command to obtain super user privileges to restart squid. This is done so that only administrative users can affect the running services on the system. Marked as invalid. ** Changed in: squid (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed => Invalid -- Error on restarting squid https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/590173 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 590173] Re: Error on restarting squid
You get this error when you try to run the command without root privileges. Try "sudo restart squid" instead. But I think you will run into a real bug then: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/squid/+bug/573853 -- Error on restarting squid https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/590173 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
