I did not notice before, but kpdf is removed from Ubuntu and replaced by okular since Hardy. Hardy Heron (Desktop) reached EOL on May 12, 2011. There have been many changes in Ubuntu since that time you reported the bug and your problem may have been fixed with some of the updates. It would help us a lot if you could test it on a currently supported Ubuntu version. The problem related to the window size is still present in Kubuntu 8.04 (KPDF 0.5.9, KDE 3.5.9). kpdf package version is 4:3.5.9-0ubuntu1. In Kubuntu 7.10, there are still some problems with the window size.
