Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xorg

After upgrading to 10.04 from 9.10, no window manager is started when I
login to GNOME via GDM. The applications in my startup items do launch,
but they have no window decoration and I cannot switch input to any of
them. To fix this, I have to switch to the console and run 'compiz
--replace' to get a window manager.

If I choose "Failsafe GNOME" from the login window, I get a window
manager.

This did not happen with Ubuntu 9.10
