[Bug 600302] Re: No icons for amarok menu in indicator-applet

2011-01-18 Thread Ted Gould
This is an issue with the GTK making it difficult to use FDO image name
fallbacks (there's a way, but it sucks) so I've filled this bug to try
and get the fix for that in Natty so that we can use it in indicator-
application. That's bug 704632.

When I use amarok the indicator applet icon appears fine, but the icons

The picture I attached should make this fairly clear what is happening.

There are other bugs around amarok and the indicator-applet but none

I have all the dependancies installed and also the kde Icon themes kde-

[Bug 600302] Re: No icons for amarok menu in indicator-applet

2011-01-11 Thread Jonathan Thomas
Not an amarok bug. The icons in question are part of the freedesktop.org
icon theme, and all major icon themes have them. The problem here is
that the GNOME indicator app is only looking in the hicolor fallback
theme, instead of the user's selected icon theme. (The icons in question
are available in the default GNOME theme, the Humanity icon theme
(Ubuntu default) and the Oxygen icon theme)

[Bug 600302] Re: No icons for amarok menu in indicator-applet

2010-11-23 Thread Adam Weiss
Perhaps this bug should be attached to the Amarok package itself rather
than the indicator applet? The fix involves tossing the missing Amarok
icons in /usr/share/kde4/apps/amarok/icons/hicolor/22x22/actions right?
That sounds like a job for the Amarok package, and not the indicator
applet to me...

I'm new here, so I won't try to fiddle with anything since I don't know
how you guys like to do things. But, as always, I'm happy to offer

I didn't find the icons anywhere in the computer therefore I downloaded the

You may just extract the archive, which is in attachment into this folder

[Bug 600302] Re: No icons for amarok menu in indicator-applet

2010-08-10 Thread gnomed
Ted, just FYI, it is both the media skip buttons (forwards and
backwards) as well as the stop button and the play/pause buttons.

Your d-bus instructions are a little confusing to me or else I would run
them myself for you, but perhaps if you install and run amarok you can
check it for yourself. I have a pretty typical installation and don't
see why it would work on someone elses computer but not mine.

Also, I am curious whether it would be looking for the KDE icons because
amarok is a KDE application, or the gnome icons because the indicator
applet is a gnome app??? I would not be surprised either way! So maybe
answering that question will help, and I imagine your instructions above
would answer that question, but for the life of me I can't follow them,
sorry.

[Bug 600302] Re: No icons for amarok menu in indicator-applet

2010-08-09 Thread Ted Gould
It is odd that the icons would be not found. Can you confirm which
icons Amarok is looking for? It seems to be media-
skip-{backwards|forwards} to me, but those are found in several icon
themes.

If you can use an application like d-feet you can get the dbus address
and path for the menu. Then you can dump it using dbus-dumper which is
in /usr/lib/libdbusmenu/ and part of the libdbusmenu-tools package.
That would give is the icon names that it's requesting.

When you click on it creates another icon on the right hand side. This
occures once Amarok is up and running! Normally if you click on the icon
Amarok will ether minimize or maximize. If you hover the mouse pointer
over it, it should show the artwork and the song that is playing.

My problem is that it is not doing any of this for me!

After reading it twice I very much think that this is exactly what is
reported in the other bug, though the other one is of greater magnitude
since it describes the general shortcomings brought upon Ubuntu users by

2010-06-30 Thread gnomed
If you hover the mouse pointer over it, it should show the artwork and
the song that is playing.

My problem is that it is not doing any of this for me!

^^^THIS^^^ is NOT my problem although this user clearly states
that ^^^THIS^^^ is HIS problem.this problem quoted does NOT
describe the picture I have attached. Therefore I disagree that this is
a duplicate. I do not want Amarok to minimize/maximize when I click the
icon, I am well aware that there is a menu that is supposed to appear
and min/maximize is no longer the proper functionality of the tray icon.
The shortcomings of this menu's functionality are not what I am trying
to report. Therefore this is NOT A DUPLICATE.

Again, although I dont know why I bother repeating myself, my problem is
that the icons WITHIN this menu do not appear, the menu options
themselves work fine and just as I expect them to when I click them. My
issue is purely aesthetic and to do with the lack of any icons
whatsoever WITHIN the menu - SEE PICTURE.

I will be unmarking this again as a duplicate, if you really must insist
on marking it as a duplicate please quote a RELEVANT section that
discusses the lack of icons that I am reporting. Please see my attached
picture if you do not understand my issue clearly and why these are not
the same, the picture sums up my problem perfectly as the error is
immediately evident once you look at it.

what nonesense!

I humbly request that you unmark this bug as a duplicate because I am
tired of fighting with you people about it.

Alternatively I can post my issues in a comment on this other bug, but
that will just be muddling things since the original bug description and
EVERYONE else discussing it have yet to mention this issue. I cannot
disagree more with you on this decision.
