[Bug 603950] Re: toolbox.py crashed with SIGSEGV

2011-01-03 Thread Cesare Mastroianni

After upgrading to maverick the problem vanished. I cannot add anything else.

Happy new year!

[Bug 603950] Re: toolbox.py crashed with SIGSEGV

2010-07-10 Thread Cesare Mastroianni

Thank You for Your help. You wrote about the not up-to-date version of dpkg,
claiming for missing upgraded package 1.15.5.6ubuntu4.1.

However, please see here:

$ apt-cache policy dpkg
dpkg:
  Installato: 1.15.5.6ubuntu4
  Candidato: 1.15.5.6ubuntu4
  Tabella versione:
 *** 1.15.5.6ubuntu4 0
500 http://it.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ lucid/main Packages
100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

$ sudo apt-get upgrade
Lettura elenco dei pacchetti... Fatto
Generazione albero delle dipendenze
Lettura informazioni sullo stato... Fatto
0 aggiornati, 0 installati, 0 da rimuovere e 0 non aggiornati.

$ sudo apt-get install dpkg=1.15.5.6ubuntu4.1
Lettura elenco dei pacchetti... Fatto
Generazione albero delle dipendenze
Lettura informazioni sullo stato... Fatto
E: Version 1.15.5.6ubuntu4.1 per dpkg non trovato

Translating from Italian to English, the last line means Version
1.15.5.6ubuntu4.1 for DPKG not found.

So?

Grazie.
Ciao
CM

[Bug 603950] Re: toolbox.py crashed with SIGSEGV

2010-07-10 Thread Cesare Mastroianni

Sorry to bother You again ... I double checked the TXT backtrace report.
Please, see here my short task:

1) Run list-dbgsym-packages.sh -t -p with the pid number of the hplip
toolbox python process.

2) Run sudo apt-get install xxx for every package listed by the shell
script (there were 106 pacakges listed).

3) When I run the list-dbgsym-packages.sh again, there are still some packages
listed, that are:
   libc6-i686-dbgsym
   libgail18-dbgsym
   lib gtk2.0-0-dbgsym
   libuuid1-dbgsym
   python-dbus-dbgsym
   python-gobject-dbgsym
   python-qt4-dbgsym
   python-sip-dbg

4) Run sudo apt-get install for the new short list, and I got:
libc6-i686-dbgsym è già alla versione più recente.
libuuid1-dbgsym è già alla versione più recente.
python-dbus-dbgsym è già alla versione più recente.
python-gobject-dbgsym è già alla versione più recente.
python-qt4-dbgsym è già alla versione più recente.
python-sip-dbg è già alla versione più recente.
   libgail18-dbgsym: Dipende: libgail18 (= 2.20.1-0ubuntu2) ma
2.20.1-0ubuntu2renbag1 sta per essere installato
   libgtk2.0-0-dbgsym: Dipende: libgtk2.0-0 (= 2.20.1-0ubuntu2) ma
2.20.1-0ubuntu2renbag1 sta per essere installato
The last two lines are due to a PPA installed onto my system, which is
necessary to temporary patch another RELEVANT BUG (see bug #529696 ... comment
56 ... https://launchpad.net/~renbag/+archive/ppa).

Then it seems that all the relevant DBGSYM packages are installed.
However, the stack trace missed some symbols, being the last 5 stack
entries relate to python2.6.

Please, tell me how to find the missing DBGSYM packages in order to
identify the missing symbols from the stack.

The crash is here EVERY DAY.

Ciao

[Bug 603950] Re: toolbox.py crashed with SIGSEGV

2010-07-10 Thread Cesare Mastroianni

Last 5 entries of the stack trace are:

#0 0x in ?? ()
No symbol table info available.
#1 0xb6d29157 in ?? () from /usr/lib/pymodules/python2.6/PyQt4/QtGui.so
No symbol table info available.
#2 0xb6d2921f in ?? () from /usr/lib/pymodules/python2.6/PyQt4/QtGui.so
No symbol table info available.
#3 0xb5720bab in ?? () from /usr/lib/pymodules/python2.6/sip.so
No symbol table info available.
#4 0xb5720be1 in ?? () from /usr/lib/pymodules/python2.6/sip.so
No symbol table info available.

Actually gdb reports:
eading symbols from /usr/lib/pymodules/python2.6/sip.so...(no debugging symbols
found)...done.
Reading symbols from /usr/lib/pymodules/python2.6/PyQt4/QtCore.so...(no
debugging symbols found)...done.

But apt-get says:
python-qt4-dbgsym è già alla versione più recente.
python-sip-dbg è già alla versione più recente.
Which means is already at the latest up-to-date version.

So I don't know where to search for missing symbols.
