Oh, to make that clear: This is indeed fixed with the HEAD version, but the de.po file is supposed to be shipped by language-pack-gnome-de, and so I don't understand why it was not shipped in the latest update. This has not been fixed with the 1:6.10+20060924 release (which according to the date should contain the fix), and now I wonder if that is correct. But generating the .mo file from the de.po file downloaded with apt-get source xchat-gnome works correctly.
