[Bug 606842] Re: Blank Screen During Boot

2012-06-12 Thread Karl.S
Hi Christopher M. Penalver (penalvch),

I cannot test anything because I no longer have the hardware with which I was
having problems.
But as far as I remember, the following releases seemed to fix the problem
because I didn't have to use any tweaks to use the OS, therefore we can say
that the problem is fixed.
Thank you for the assistance.

[Bug 606842] Re: Blank Screen During Boot

2012-06-09 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Karl.S, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any
activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue?
Can you try with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO CD images
are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/ .

If it remains an issue, could you run the following command in the
development release from a Terminal
(Applications-Accessories-Terminal). It will automatically gather and
attach updated debug information to this report.

apport-collect -p linux replace-with-bug-number

Also, if you could test the latest upstream kernel available that would
be great. It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the
issue. Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Once
you've tested the upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-upstream-
testing' tag. This can be done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon
next to the tag located at the bottom of the bug description and
deleting the 'needs-upstream-testing' text.

If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following
tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream'.

If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag:
'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'.

If you are unable to test the mainline kernel, for example it will not
boot, please add the tag: 'kernel-unable-to-test-upstream'.

Please let us know your results. Thanks in advance.

** Description changed:

I have a big problem with no explications, I've downloaded and installed
last updates today (18th July) for ubuntu 64bits and after rebooting, I
couldnt reach the login screen, even after many many (many) tries, I
decided to reinstall because I was not able to run the system in a
normal way or even the recovery mode of any kernel version installed, no
way to fix or find the problem, the system is booting but the screen
seems to power off during the boot process, if I switch terminal
(CTRL+ALT+F2) and reboot (CTRL+ALT+DEL) it works so i think I've
installed a xorg update that broke the system.

Even after a clean install, no tweaks, i only install all the updates until
today and the bug still happens.. its very annoying !
I have a special hardware that i am trying to make it work since the 9.10 and
because not a lot of people use it with linux i feel always alone in front of
this kind of problems... :(
