[Bug 60752] Re: Does not resume from suspend

2006-09-25 Thread Andrea Gamba
I think that the importance of the problem should be considered high.

Aiglx is an important innovation with respect to Dapper, it brings
Ubuntu in direct competition with the GUIs of Mac OS or Vista.

However, nobody is going to use Aiglx on the laptop if it impairs useful
features such as hibernate or suspend.

The problem with Aiglx and suspend has been discussed in several places, here
for instance:
http://www.ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=145068&page=103

but is still not solved. However, it should be solvable in principle.

[Bug 60752] Re: Does not resume from suspend

2006-09-25 Thread Pascal
I'm afraid I might have mislead some of you.
I've just tried with the kubuntu dapper live desktopcd and it doesn't work
there either. But it does the same sort of "nothern lights.." as I was refering
to before therefore it cannot be the Aiglx.
I think it might just be my display that doesn't know what to show.

[Bug 60752] Re: Does not resume from suspend

2006-09-25 Thread Pascal
I've tested with kernel 2.6.17-9 and it doesn't work.

** Description changed:

  Binary package hint: acpi

- When I try to resume from suspend in Edgy knot 3 (installed and updated)
- it shows some sort of "nothern lights" (I believe it is the AIGLX?) and
- doesnt resume the session. It fades to black screen and I have to shut
- it off manually.
+ When I try to resume from suspend in Edgy knot 3 (installed and updated) it
shows some sort of "nothern lights" (might just be my display) and doesnt
resume the session. It fades to black screen and I have to shut it off manually.
+ I get same behaviour in Dapper Drake.

This are my specs (please note they are in danish, but I will translate if
you cant read them):

2007-01-17 Thread Peter Whittaker
Thanks this bug report. To make progress, some more information will be
needed.

Please attach (by commenting on the bug) to the bug report the output of
the following commands:

uname -a

sudo lspci -vv

sudo lspci -vvn

sudo dmidecode

It would also be helpful if you could try to hibernate/suspend and after
that fails, restart your system and attach /var/log/kern.log.0 as well.

Since there will be a lot of output, please do be sure to attach rather
than commenting -in-line. Thanks again!

however, when I suspend using the Guidance power manager I don't resume

Could this be a permissions problem?

[Bug 60752] Re: Does not resume from suspend

2008-08-28 Thread Leann Ogasawara
The Ubuntu Kernel Team is planning to move to the 2.6.27 kernel for the
upcoming Intrepid Ibex 8.10 release. As a result, the kernel team would
appreciate it if you could please test this newer 2.6.27 Ubuntu kernel.
There are one of two ways you should be able to test:

1) If you are comfortable installing packages on your own, the linux-
image-2.6.27-* package is currently available for you to install and
test.

--or--

2) The upcoming Alpha5 for Intrepid Ibex 8.10 will contain this newer
2.6.27 Ubuntu kernel. Alpha5 is set to be released Thursday Sept 4.
Please watch http://www.ubuntu.com/testing for Alpha5 to be announced.
You should then be able to test via a LiveCD.

Please let us know immediately if this newer 2.6.27 kernel resolves the
bug reported here or if the issue remains. More importantly, please
open a new bug report for each new bug/regression introduced by the
2.6.27 kernel and tag the bug report with 'linux-2.6.27'. Also, please
specifically note if the issue does or does not appear in the 2.6.26
kernel. Thanks again, we really appreicate your help and feedback.

[Bug 60752] Re: Does not resume from suspend

2008-10-14 Thread Pascal d'Hermilly
It's very strange!
I've been following the guide on https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingKernelSuspend
When I run the following as root, I resume just fine:
sync; echo 1 > /sys/power/pm_trace; /etc/acpi/sleep.sh force
however, when I suspend using the Guidance power manager I don't resume
properly.
Could this be a permissions problem?

just tried to suspend again with the powermanager when
/sys/power/pm_trace = 1

upon resume the screen started to flickered with colors for about 5
seconds and then X restarted and I was presented with KDM logon prompt.
I logged on and it seems to work ok, expect that my session was kicked.

[Bug 60752] Re: Does not resume from suspend

2008-10-14 Thread Pascal d'Hermilly
Just did suspend via powermanager again, but this time I was not able to resume
at all.
However after booting up again, I now have some more clues:
[1.850402] Magic number: 0:953:379
[1.850405] hash matches
/build/buildd/linux-2.6.27/drivers/base/power/main.c:390
There are no more "hash matches". So I hope it helps.

Again. Attaching the dmesg output

I've just tried with the kubuntu dapper live desktopcd and it doesn't work

I think it might just be my display that doesn't know what to show.

Thanks this bug report. To make progress, some more information will be
needed.

Please attach (by commenting on the bug) to the bug report the output of
the following commands:

uname -a

sudo lspci -vv

sudo lspci -vvn

sudo dmidecode

It would also be helpful if you could try to hibernate/suspend and after
that fails, restart your system and attach /var/log/kern.log.0 as well.

Since there will be a lot of output, please do be sure to attach rather
than commenting -in-line. Thanks again!

I'm not sure the data is on the server yet, because I had to email it.
The automatical upload timed out.
