A way to combine the rm and ln is to execute: sudo ln -s -f /etc/lxdm/default.conf /etc/alternatives/lxdm.conf I tried this. How can I tell if the problem is resolved. Another update from my PPA (my PPA : https://launchpad.net/~gilir/+archive/unstable/ , lxdm version 0.2.0-0ubuntu2~ppa2) should fix the problem.
