I'm having issues with an USB wifi stick with Intersil ISL3887 chipset on Ubuntu 11.10 64-bit with installed firmware for wifi. Okay, this is strange. I upgraded from 9.10 to 10.04 LTS, the wireless did not function after the update, but when I did install linux- firmware-nonfree the wireless started to work and it connected to the network. The big (?) difference in this situation is that my older computer where it did not work, had USB 1.1 ports and this one has 2.0. Hi, sorry that it took so long for me to reply. I now have "new" machine, sold the previous one, I still have the wireless card. I now have Ubuntu 9.10 because I couldn't obtain 10.04 at the moment, the wireless card works out of the box with this version, no need to even install linux-firmware-nonfree. This is likely an issue with the driver for the card.
