[Bug 623271] Re: no built-in backlignt in samsung nc10
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. However, according to https://help.ubuntu.com/community/NC10#Karmic%209.10 (which I'm noticed myself too), the brightness control needs at least BIOS 11CA or higher due to the new graphics system introduced in Karmic. Therefore, I'm closing this bug report as this issue is related to your BIOS which version is older than 11CA. Instructions for BIOS upgrading are available at http://www.voria.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=248 (do it at your own risk). If you do not want to upgrade your BIOS, you will find an alternative solution at http://www.voria.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=296 Please feel free to report any other bugs you may find. ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete => Invalid -- no built-in backlignt in samsung nc10 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/623271 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Please note that I did the apport-collect after the bug was fixed, so maybe it's not that important I'm downloading the upstream kernel right now... -- no built-in backlignt in samsung nc10 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/623271 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 623271] Re: no built-in backlignt in samsung nc10
Hi everyone, This issue seemed to fix by itself, but by-the-way I installed gnome on my kubuntu, so maybe that's why (I doubt). Maybe it was because of a system update...) ** Tags added: apport-collected ** Description changed: Hi, I'm using Kubuntu Lucid Lynx on a Samsung NC10 and I couldn't change the backlight for a long time The only thing that worked for me was using setpci -s 00:02.1 F4.B=FF replacing FF by a hex value in range 00:FF to adjust brightness When I run xbacklight it outputs "No outputs have backlight property" I hope it helps you to fix the bug, and I remain available for more info + --- + AlsaVersion: Advanced Linux Sound Architecture Driver Version 1.0.21. + AplayDevices: + List of PLAYBACK Hardware Devices + card 0: Intel [HDA Intel], device 0: ALC272 Analog [ALC272 Analog] +Subdevices: 1/1 +Subdevice #0: subdevice #0 + Architecture: i386 + ArecordDevices: + List of CAPTURE Hardware Devices + card 0: Intel [HDA Intel], device 0: ALC272 Analog [ALC272 Analog] +Subdevices: 1/1 +Subdevice #0: subdevice #0 + AudioDevicesInUse: + USERPID ACCESS COMMAND + /dev/snd/controlC0: guillaume 4609 F pulseaudio + CRDA: + country 98: + (2402 - 2482 @ 40), (N/A, 20) + Card0.Amixer.info: + Card hw:0 'Intel'/'HDA Intel at 0xf034 irq 22' +Mixer name : 'Realtek ALC272' +Components : 'HDA:10ec0272,144dca00,0011' +Controls : 18 +Simple ctrls : 11 + DistroRelease: Ubuntu 10.04 + Frequency: This has only happened once. + HibernationDevice: RESUME=UUID=c193737c-3736-41ac-a11a-fe05238f755f + InstallationMedia: Kubuntu 10.04 LTS "Lucid Lynx" - Release i386 (20100427) + MachineType: SAMSUNG ELECTRONICS CO., LTD. [Bug 623271] Re: no built-in backlignt in samsung nc10
Hi Guillaume, Please be sure to confirm this issue exists with the latest development release of Ubuntu. ISO CD images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily/current/ . If the issue remains, please run the following command from a Terminal (Applications->Accessories->Terminal). It will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report. apport-collect -p linux 623271 Also, if you could test the latest upstream kernel available that would be great. It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-upstream-testing' tag. This can be done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon next to the tag located at the bottom of the bug description and deleting the 'needs-upstream-testing' text. Please let us know your results. Thanks in advance. [This is an automated message. Apologies if it has reached you inappropriately; please just reply to this message indicating so.] ** Tags added: needs-kernel-logs ** Tags added: needs-upstream-testing ** Tags added: kj-triage ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete -- no built-in backlignt in samsung nc10 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/623271 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
