Lollerke, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? If so, could you please test for this with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com /daily-live/current/ . If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in the development release from a Terminal (Applications->Accessories->Terminal), as it will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report: apport-collect -p linux Also, could you please test the latest upstream kernel available (not the daily folder) following https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds ? It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please comment on which kernel version specifically you tested. If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tags: kernel-fixed-upstream kernel-fixed-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER where VERSION-NUMBER is the version number of the kernel you tested. I apologize, I tested some more and found out, that it is actually related to the browser putting its data not into RAM but on my SD-Card (which serves as harddrive replacement) and is very slow, it seems that for an unrelated reason (I yet have to find out) it slowed down. Same here with Atheros AR5005G wireless network adapter. Some pages (like google) work well, but most websites don't load due to a timeout or load very slowly. Update manager is affected, too. Downloads take some time to start, but then, once started they work well (7 Mbps). Same here with latest Maverick Netbook Edition with all updates from repositories on HP Pavilion dm1-1020ed. Problems started after upgrade to Maverick beta (under 10.04 I had no problems at all). Loading a test page showed a download speed of max 24 KiB/s. I don't know what causes it and so I cannot attach this report to any package. Browsing the Internet I read about problems in kernel driver, network-manager and DNS. In my case both Firefox and Evolution are slow. URL lookup in Firefox seems reasonably fast, but loading the page takes minutes instead of seconds (which votes against DNS?). However, some pages (e.g. Google) seem to load at normal speed.
