Hi SF, If you could also please test the latest upstream kernel available that would be great. It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-upstream-testing' tag. This can be done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon next to the tag located at the bottom of the bug description and deleting the 'needs-upstream-testing' text. Please let us know your results. I'm having the same problem. After applying the latest patches: Display of laptop stays black. Laptop can be used via docking station and external display, but 'Monitor: Sieko Epson Corporation 15 ' stays black. Seems that the problem is in Package: linux-image-2.6.32-24-generic. Workaround: By removing this and using the previous image on package: linux-image-2.6.32-23-generic. Has this something to do with bug: #600453 ? But I think that this title: Applying linux-image-2.6.32-24-generic package to Ubuntu Lucid (10.04) causes the Dell E6510 screen to be black. Thanks Kurt for your comments. I unfortunately was unable to know what package caused this problem at the time, as it broke my system completely and I could not log in using that specific kernel. I will read through the links you provided above and see what additional info I can supply you with.
