For the records. workaround. Add the option "reboot=a" in the kernel options for grub. Edit the /etc/default/grub and add the option in the var GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/630002 Title: Intel DP55WG Board Fails to Restart Properly -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 630002] Re: Intel DP55WG Board Fails to Restart Properly
Because the Ubuntu folk rarely actually fix bugs. Generally they wait a year or so and then post an automated message saying "does it still happen" then just go around expiring things. I've yet to see the point of actually reporting bugs since I have never encountered one that was actually fixed -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/630002 Title: Intel DP55WG Board Fails to Restart Properly -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 630002] Re: Intel DP55WG Board Fails to Restart Properly
Why is this bug set to expire in two days? The requested testing has been performed. The ball is in Ubuntu's court now. [Bug 630002] Re: Intel DP55WG Board Fails to Restart Properly
I have the same motherboard and had no issues till the other day when I upgraded my dual boot Windows from XP to 64 bit 7. Maverick will work just fine doing halts, suspends and restarts from a clean power on. However if you boot into Windows 7 and then reboot in Maverick then Maverick will be unable to suspend, reboot or halt - it will go through most of the motions and then hang requiring a reset button press or hard power off. My conjecture would be that Windows is setting the hardware into a state that Maverick can't cope with. -- Intel DP55WG Board Fails to Restart Properly https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/630002 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 630002] Re: Intel DP55WG Board Fails to Restart Properly
I just tested out the following two kernels: linux-image-2.6.35-02063504-generic_2.6.35-02063504.201008271919_amd64 linux-image-2.6.36-999-generic_2.6.36-999.201009121120_amd64 I experienced the same symptom I experienced previously: "as it was shutting down, the Ubuntu splash screen was displayed (and frozen) while the power LED was off" (normally the powere LED never goes off while the system is powered on) It remained like this until I pressed the reset button. ** Tags removed: needs-upstream-testing -- Intel DP55WG Board Fails to Restart Properly https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/630002 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 630002] Re: Intel DP55WG Board Fails to Restart Properly
Hi Michael, If you could also please test the latest upstream kernel available that would be great. It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-upstream-testing' tag. This can be done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon next to the tag located at the bottom of the bug description and deleting the 'needs-upstream-testing' text. Please let us know your results. Thanks in advance. [This is an automated message. Apologies if it has reached you inappropriately; please just reply to this message indicating so.] ** Tags added: kj-triage ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete -- Intel DP55WG Board Fails to Restart Properly https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/630002 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
