I forgot to say that this is the case with yesterday's Natty daily build. I've also attached the lshw output from my wife's PC. After recent updates, every thing is working. After recent updates, I can use the unity desktop as my test user, however, when I log in as my normal user (selecting Ubuntu Netbook Edition from the login screen), I get the standard gnome desktop, not the unity desktop. This looks like a configuration problem to me, not a crash. I will be happy to provide additional information to help resolve this bug -- let me know what you need.
