[Bug 632048] Re: PS2 keyboad and mouse lockup

2011-02-23 Thread saejin
I found the same problem, and the black list did the trick. I contacted
ASUS and they informed me they do not support systems other than
Microsoft. NICE!

This kind of remark from ASUS should encourage all Linux community to
back-list Asus itself as provider. I already did it with Canon printers
and scanners for the same reason!! (no drivers)

2011-01-08 Thread saejin
Black listing did the trick. I contacted ASUS to find out when they plan to
fix their driver, and they told me they do not support anything but
windows. Does anyone else have a fix that allows the fans to be monitored?

This bud seems (for me) to be a duplicated of bug 557065

I'll gone a try this solution...

2010-12-27 Thread Brad Jascob
To blacklist the driver (so it doesn't get loaded) go to the directory
/etc/modprobe.d and edit the file blacklist.conf
Add the line blacklist asus_atk0110 to the file

[Bug 632048] Re: PS2 keyboad and mouse lockup

2010-12-27 Thread saejin
I had the same problem with a P7P55D-E-Premium mother board running 64 bit
versions of both Ubuntu 10.04 and 10.10. No issue with Ubuntu 9.10. Switching
to a USB mouse would make the mouse work but of course not the keyboard.
I understand the asus_atk0110 driver gives information for the fans. How does
one blacklist this driver?

Blacklisting the asus_atk0110 seams to solve the problem for me too.
Thanks a lot. Hardware is also i7-870 and the P7P55D-E Motherboard.

[Bug 632048] Re: PS2 keyboad and mouse lockup

2010-09-09 Thread Brad Jascob
After trying a few things I think I have tracked this down to a problem
with the module asus_atk0110. Since blacklisting this module the
behavior has not come back. If I put the module back in, I see the
problem again.

There are references on the web that for an Asus P7P55D motherboard this
driver does not have the correct bios memory mapping.

As another note, when the lock-up did occur, looking at
/proc/interrupts, int 12 failed to update. The keyboard and mouse were
in a fully disabled state (no lights...).
