The patch to Qt is quite intrusive and not trivial to backport to 4.7.2. I have an experimental, pure QML implementation that works on Qt 4.7.2 but cannot show the ellipsis for multiple lines. ** Description changed: Currently Unity is cutting off text for programs shortcuts. Standard Gnome allows for 3 rows of text. Unity should do the same to allow standard names used (that work with Gnome Desktop) to display fine with Unity.
