Unfortunately this bug report is being closed because we received no response to the last inquiry for information. If you are able to confirm this is still an issue with this most recent release please feel free to reopen this report. To reopen the bug report you can click on the current status, under the Status column, and change the Status back to New. [Bug 63323] Re: Edgy eft beta and panasonic CF73
The Ubuntu Kernel Team is planning to move to the 2.6.27 kernel for the upcoming Intrepid Ibex 8.10 release. As a result, the kernel team would appreciate it if you could please test this newer 2.6.27 Ubuntu kernel. There are one of two ways you should be able to test: 1) If you are comfortable installing packages on your own, the linux- image-2.6.27-* package is currently available for you to install and test. --or-- 2) The upcoming Alpha5 for Intrepid Ibex 8.10 will contain this newer 2.6.27 Ubuntu kernel. Alpha5 is set to be released Thursday Sept 4. Please watch http://www.ubuntu.com/testing for Alpha5 to be announced. You should then be able to test via a LiveCD. Please let us know immediately if this newer 2.6.27 kernel resolves the bug reported here or if the issue remains. More importantly, please open a new bug report for each new bug/regression introduced by the 2.6.27 kernel and tag the bug report with 'linux-2.6.27'. Also, please specifically note if the issue does or does not appear in the 2.6.26 kernel. Thanks again, we really appreicate your help and feedback. ** Tags added: cft-2.6.27 -- Edgy eft beta and panasonic CF73 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/63323 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 63323] Re: Edgy eft beta and panasonic CF73
The 18 month support period for Edgy Eft 6.10 has reached it's end of life. As a result, we are closing the linux-source-2.6.17 Edgy Eft kernel task. Hardy Heron 8.04 was recently released. It would be helpful if you could test the new release and verify if this is still an issue - http://www.ubuntu.com/getubuntu/download . You should be able to test your bug using the LiveCD. Please let us know your results. Thanks. ** Changed in: linux-source-2.6.17 (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed = Invalid ** Tags added: edgy-close ** Also affects: linux (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: New = Incomplete -- Edgy eft beta and panasonic CF73 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/63323 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 63323] Re: Edgy eft beta and panasonic CF73
I can confirm this problem. I have read about it in other places, and it doesn't sound like it is specific to any type of laptop. But if it is, I have a Fujitsu Lifebook S2110. my brightness buttons used to work (in dapper). I edited the brightness levels in gconf and nothing happened. Also: cat /proc/acpi/video/VGA/LCD/brightness not supported If there is any other helpful diagnostic info, I can post it. -- Edgy eft beta and panasonic CF73 https://launchpad.net/bugs/63323 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 63323] Re: Edgy eft beta and panasonic CF73
found that PCC_ACPI is not loaded at bootup, sony_acpi is loaded instead. blacklisted sony_acpy and modprobbed pcc_acpi doesn't show any /proc/acpi/pcc so no hotkey or brighness support is available. moreover is impossible to change screen brightness since is not supported in /proc/acpi/video/VGA0/LCD/brightness gconf has no effect on gnome power manager, tried to modify the battery brightness but still doesn't work. everything worked in Dapper so i don't know what happened now... -- Edgy eft beta and panasonic CF73 https://launchpad.net/bugs/63323 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 63323] Re: Edgy eft beta and panasonic CF73
i am available for any testing on my system. just drop me a line and i can try, is not a production machine and i can try whatever on it. For me is important that edgy works fine since i am trying to switch totally to linux and laptop is the only pc that still performs better in winzoze than in linux.
