 are shown in kde..
ehh... This is really weird, the same code is executed in KDE and GNOME, so it
has to work on both DEs. I'll first fix this crash, then ask upstream if he can
imagine a case where the visualisation works in KDE but not in GNOME.

[Bug 634925] Re: projectm-pulseadio segfaults

2010-09-18 Thread Matthias Klumpp
Funny... The backtrace points to a commented line in projectM's source code.
Are you sure that you've installed all projectM-packages with version
2.0.1+dfsg-3patch0.2? (Simply add the PPA, not just only update the
projectm-pulseaudio package, cause the error is in libprojectm2)
Anyway, I pushed an FTGL-disabled version to the PPA, this might work around
the crash.

2010-09-17 Thread Matthias Klumpp
Okay, I pushed some new packages to the repo now. Please check if the crash
still exists. If it does, I will disable FTGL in projectM (so there will be no
text output) This should work around the error then.
But I still don't know why it happens on your machine, but not on mine...

[Bug 634925] Re: projectm-pulseadio segfaults

2010-09-15 Thread Matthias Klumpp
Maybe I found a workaround for this problem... Could you please install the
projectM packages available at
https://edge.launchpad.net/~ximion/+archive/tests and check if the bug is gone?
(If not, please create a GDB-Backtrace again, like you've done before)
To prevent this crash on some machines, I might need to disable some of
projectM's features in the end. (At time I try to avoid this)

2010-09-12 Thread Matthias Klumpp
Thanks! The OpenGl info tells me that your graphics card should support all
features of projectM, so this is not what causes this issue. Also the GDB
backtrace is excellent. I'll need to ask upstream to fix this because I was
unable to find the reason for this issue while reviewing the code. If there is
a fast solution for this, we maybe will have a patched version in Maverick. (If
not it will be at least in Debian Sid)
Regards
  Matthias

[Bug 634925] Re: projectm-pulseadio segfaults

2010-09-11 Thread Matthias Klumpp
Sorry, I forgot to tell you that you have to command GDB to run the application
first ^^
So, please do the following things:
1.) Add the output of glxinfo | grep -i GL_ to this report
2.) Run projectM-pulseaudio under control of GDB. Install GDB via apt-get, then
execute gdb projectM-pulseaudio 21 | tee ~/gdb-projectM_pulse.txt and
attach the generated 'gdb-projectM_pulse.txt' file to this bugreport.
You will need to run the following commands in the GDB prompt:
(gdb) run
(gdb) backtrace full
(gdb) info registers
(gdb) x/16i $pc
(gdb) thread apply all backtrace
(gdb) quit
3.) Please remove the quotations, if you send a mail to LP. They mess up the
bugreport and make it very hard to read. (they also don't provide additional
information)
