[Bug 636481] Re: sensors-applet does not display detected sensors

2011-03-02 Thread Andrew Schulman
I also have this bug, but I don't seem to be suffering from #614008,
which is in any case now supposed to be fixed. So I think the duplicate
status is wrong.

purging and then reinstalling sensors-applet et al. as in #11 did solve
this problem for me, at least for now.

No worries, glad you could resolve it - sounds like a misconfigured
install due to your machine freezing due to the aforementioned bug.

[Bug 636481] Re: sensors-applet does not display detected sensors

2010-09-15 Thread Alex Murray
Okay I can see the problem - the output from sensors-applet shows that
it is unable to load any of the plugins and hence cannot access any
sensors - can you please try completely uninstalling sensors-applet and
then reinstalling it:

sudo apt-get purge sensors-appplet libsensors-applet-plugin0 hddtemp
sudo apt-get install sensors-applet

And then try re-running it - if it again fails to work please repost the
output again.

Alex Murray:

Your suggestion worked like a charm, I got the sensors GUI back!

I believe that this issue is dependent on kernel bug 614008 (which is
now fixed), because the only time this has happen is under the bugs
conditions. Marking this bug as a duplicate of it.

[Bug 636481] Re: sensors-applet does not display detected sensors

2010-09-14 Thread Alex Murray
@rusivi1: Thanks, so sensors-detect works which is a good first step.
Can you try removing sensors-applet from your panel, then run the following
from a terminal:

/usr/libexec/sensors-applet

This should then sit there waiting.

At this point you can add sensors-applet to you panel and in the
terminal a bunch of debugging should be shown.

Can you please follow these steps and post this debugging output from
sensors-applet?

[Bug 636481] Re: sensors-applet does not display detected sensors

2010-09-14 Thread Alex Murray
Actually I just realised the above command is wrong - instead you need
to run:

/usr/lib/gnome-panel/sensors-applet

from the terminal, then add sensors-applet to your panel.

[Bug 636481] Re: sensors-applet does not display detected sensors

2010-09-14 Thread Alex Murray
If you could also post the output of the 'sensors' command from a
terminal that would be really helpful too - sensors-applet uses the same
interface (libsensors) to detect sensors as the 'sensors' command so if
this doesn't detect the sensors then neither will sensors-applet.

It would be helpful if you posted the output of sensors-detect so we can
