Re: [Bug 63967] Re: machine does not wake up after suspend
Well, I do not know in what world you live. Most computers I tried DO NOT WAKE UP AFTER SUSPEND on Ubuntu, any version. It is so frequent that few people even try to install Ubuntu on a laptop - simply because on a desktop it is easier to live with that, you can just systematically turn it off. Most of us user have simply given up. This is real world. On Sun, Oct 28, 2012 at 7:16 PM, Charlie Kravetz wrote: > My Asus seems to work fine, with all xubuntu versions since 8.04. [Bug 63967] Re: machine does not wake up after suspend
My Asus seems to work fine, with all xubuntu versions since 8.04. Of course, maybe it just isn't new enough to have issues with suspend. I have been unable to reproduce this issue, myself. I have one laptop and two desktops that seem to be able to wake from suspend. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/63967 Title: machine does not wake up after suspend To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/63967/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 63967] Re: machine does not wake up after suspend
I have been unable to get various versions of Ubuntu to suspend on three different laptops over the years: Unbuntu 10.10 and 11.04 on a Dell Latitude 630, Ubuntu 11.10 and Xubuntu 12.04 on a Dell Latitude E6500, and now Xubuntu 12.10 on a Dell E6510. After the laptop goes into suspend mode, it won't wake up - just displays a blank screen, sometimes a mouse under a cursor. From the posts on this and other websites, it seems like a lot of people are having similar problems on all kinds of different laptops and Ubuntu versions. Obviously the suspend function is broken. Maintainers should not need all kinds of debugging information, they should be able to reproduce this on their own laptops. Does anyone have a laptop that handles wakeup from suspend mode properly with Ubuntu (any version/flavors)? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/63967 Title: machine does not wake up after suspend To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/63967/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Unlike many of those posting, the failure to wake from hibernation or sleep has been persistent, from original installation through updates on my netbook, Dell Mini Inspiron 1012. [Bug 63967] Re: machine does not wake up after suspend
I have something interesting to report. I did an apt-get update, apt-get dist-upgrade today. Down came the 2.6.27-3 generic. The machine still doesn't wake up after suspend, (with or without the noapic acpi=force irqpoll) BUT, the computer was on and running doing its regular thing when the battery died. So the machine went into either hibernate or suspend because when I plugged in the adapter and powered on, the system load splash said "Waking up. Please wait... ". This prompted me to attempt hibernate instead of suspend. I switched the lid switch to go to hibernate and sure enough hibernate works now. Suspend is still broken, but at least I can make my puter save its running state when I close the lid now. = ^ . ^ = -- machine does not wake up after suspend https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/63967 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 63967] Re: machine does not wake up after suspend
Ok, I doubt that bug in the last post is related at all; it is some known bug that a lot of people have reported already. I added noapic acpi=force irqpoll back onto my kernel parameters with the 2.6.27-2-generic kernel and I managed to get an error message when I pressed the suspend button. The screen turns black w/ a flashing cursor, after a few seconds an error jumps up, a little too quick to see, and then another error, also too quick to see... The second one was something along the lines of "Freezing of tasks failed after 20 seconds, SERR action 0x0, DRDY err ata4.00 Thats about all I could see. Then the awesome part; I can't get it to give me the error again, it is now doing the same old suspend light comes on, flashes, won't resume w/out disconnecting power and battery then restarting. I am adding the kernel log just in case it helps anything, its unedited so its pretty big. ** Attachment added: "kern.log.gz" http://launchpadlibrarian.net/17219703/kern.log.gz -- machine does not wake up after suspend https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/63967 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 63967] Re: machine does not wake up after suspend
The Ubuntu Kernel Team is planning to move to the 2.6.27 kernel for the upcoming Intrepid Ibex 8.10 release. As a result, the kernel team would appreciate it if you could please test this newer 2.6.27 Ubuntu kernel. There are one of two ways you should be able to test: 1) If you are comfortable installing packages on your own, the linux- image-2.6.27-* package is currently available for you to install and test. --or-- 2) The upcoming Alpha5 for Intrepid Ibex 8.10 will contain this newer 2.6.27 Ubuntu kernel. Alpha5 is set to be released Thursday Sept 4. Please watch http://www.ubuntu.com/testing for Alpha5 to be announced. You should then be able to test via a LiveCD. Please let us know immediately if this newer 2.6.27 kernel resolves the bug reported here or if the issue remains. More importantly, please open a new bug report for each new bug/regression introduced by the 2.6.27 kernel and tag the bug report with 'linux-2.6.27'. Also, please specifically note if the issue does or does not appear in the 2.6.26 kernel. Thanks again, we really appreicate your help and feedback. ** Tags added: cft-2.6.27 -- machine does not wake up after suspend https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/63967 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 63967] Re: machine does not wake up after suspend
The 18 month support period for Edgy Eft 6.10 has reached it's end of life. As a result, we are closing the linux-source-2.6.17 Edgy Eft kernel task. However, please note that this report will remain open against the actively developed kernel. Thank you for your continued support and help as we debug this issue. ** Tags added: edgy-close ** Tags removed: edgy-regression ** Also affects: linux (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Changed in: linux-source-2.6.17 (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete => Invalid ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: New => Confirmed -- machine does not wake up after suspend https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/63967 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
